1. Vibration Drum: Abnormal Noise, Failure to Vibrate, Oil Leaks
Metallic Clanking Sounds
Causes: Broken eccentric block bolts, disintegrated bearings, or damaged couplings.
Solution: Open cover for inspection; replace bolts, bearings, or couplings.
Oil Leakage at Drum Edge
Causes: Damaged floating oil seals or defective bearing cover seals.
Solution: Replace the O-ring and floating oil seal assembly.
2. Poor Compaction Results: Insufficient Compaction, Uneven Surface
Causes: Insufficient machine tonnage or excitation force; incorrect selection of vibration frequency and amplitude; excessive travel speed; insufficient number of passes; or wear/material adhesion on the drum surface.
Solution: Switch to a suitable machine model; for earthworks, use low frequency and high amplitude (LF/HA); for asphalt, use high frequency and low amplitude (HF/LA); reduce travel speed; increase the number of passes; clean or grind the drum surface.
